Most paver systems fail for one of three reasons: poor initial base preparation, erosion, or natural settling. If the original installation didn’t include proper compaction, the surface may start shifting sooner than expected. Even well-installed pavers can settle over time due to soil movement. The key is to correct the base properly when issues begin to appear. Simply pressure washing or adding sand on top won’t solve the problem. The affected section has to be lifted and repaired correctly. 

If your pavers show widespread settling, fading joint sand, surface staining, or edge separation, restoration may be a better option.
